Old Time Recipes

Irish Beef Stew

1 ½  Pounds Beef Stew Meat

2 Tablespoons Olive Oil

2 Tablespoons Flour

1 Large Onion Chopped

2 Tablespoons Chili Powder

3 Large Potatoes Chopped in 1 Inch Pieces

6 Large Carrots – Cut in Large Pieces

¼ Teaspoon Garlic Powder

1/8 Teaspoon Pepper

1 Small Can Tomato Sauce

 

Brown meat in oil, add onions, chili powder and flour, making a roux.  Add the rest of ingredients, including tomato sauce (Optional: You can Crush a Tomato to make the Sauce), and 4 cups water.  Turn the heat down to simmer for 2 hours or until meat is tender and stew is thickened.

 

Easy Peach Cobbler

 

1 Cup Butter

1 ½ Cups Flour

1 ½ Cups Suger

1 ½ Cups Milk

3 Teaspoons Baking Powder

2 (29oz.) Cans Peaches, Sliced with Juice

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Melt butter in baking dish. Combine Flour, 1 ½ Cups Sugar, baking powder, and  milk. Pour batter over the melted butter. Place Peaches over batter, DO NOT stir. Crust and peaches will adjust positions during baking. Sprinkle the remaining sugar (Note – add 1 tablespoon cinnamon to sugar if desired). Bake 45 minutes. Make 10 -12 servings.
